Additional Information to Consider

Other important information that should be considered when selecting an organization is whether it is drug tested. As a natural competitor, it is easy to cross over into other federations that are not drug tested, but the type of physiques you are up against may be quite different. You should also determine if the organization in which you elect to compete prefers to you to compete exclusively within that organization or allows you to compete in multiple organizations. Some federations have been known to require competitors to make a choice, or risk forgoing eligibility, while others view competitors as “free agents” and allow you to compete simultaneously among multiple federations. Additionally, it is beneficial to know if you do qualify as a professional in one organization, if other organizations will honor that status and allow you to compete as a pro within their federation. And finally, one of the most important factors to consider is to have an understanding and awareness of your body type. Developing a competitive physique is two-fold: genetic and hard work. You cannot alter your genes, but you can manipulate your workouts and nutrition to make attempts to improve upon the flaws within your physique. The truth is that certain body types fair better in certain organizations. Do your research. Identify your physique and determine in what organization it would fair best. This does not mean you shouldn’t make attempts to try other organizations, but it all goes back to achieving your overall goal and what you define as success.

If you are in this to win, then make the organizations work “for you” rather than “against you.” Competition in general is just that: a contest, a fight, a rivalry. No one steps on stage to lose. ….NO ONE!   The decision to compete is ultimately up to you. It is your hard work and dedication to the sport that is going to help you succeed. With a clear understanding of all that goes into preparing for a contest, you should be informed enough to be able to select an organization that will propel you toward  your desired level of success and not depend on someone else to make that decision for you.
