Competing is not a cheap hobby or profession. Prior to selecting an organization, check on the proximity of shows to your area. Many organizations are based within certain regions and most of their shows tend to be within close proximity to that region. If traveling is within your budget, then you can easily consider selecting organizations that may require long distance trips, but if you are on a tight budget, it may be best to begin with those that host shows in your area. Although you may desire to compete in competitions that are far away, you may fair better by staying local and making sure competing is something you plan to stick with before you decide to travel cross country for a show.
