Organization Fees

Fees: How Much Are Organization Fees? (2 of 6)

Each organization has its own set of membership fees, entry fees, and even drug testing and polygraph fees. Additionally, there may be clinics, workshops, or tier systems competitors may be required to go though prior to competing. There are also additional fees for being a cross over athlete (one who competes in more than one category). Many of these fees cannot be waived, so it is imperative that competitors make themselves aware of the total cost of competing with an organization and not just the basic cost of entering a show. Entry fees can range from $25-$160; with an average cost of around $75. If applications are submitted late, fees can double to as much as $300. Annual membership fees range from $50-$100 and for professional competitions and organizations they can run in excess of $500. Drug testing and polygraph fees can range from $45-$60. Cross over fees are typically about $50-$60 for each additional category. So it is very easy to spend a minimum of $150-$200 just for entering your first show. This does not include travel expenses, hotel accommodations, or competition prep expenses. Get some paper and a calculator and carefully comb through all the necessary and unexpected expenses associated with competing in the organizations in which you are considering. After you have your numbers, see what is within your budget and make your decision accordingly. Remember, it is not set in stone and you can always choose to switch to other organizations later.
