You’ve Gotta Try These Great Protein Bars
Anyone who really knows me knows that I love a good protein bar. I don’t eat them for the health benefits, rather, I eat them as an alternative to candy bars. I consider myself, a “protein bar connoisseur” and pick out the good ones, while easily dismissing the impostors. At the 2010 Olympia amidst a sea companies and products I came across a new company called Quest Bar. They were extremely nice and provided good information about their new bars. I told them that MET-Rx’s Big Colossal Cookies N Crème and Labrada’s Double Dipped were tough acts to follow but agreed to take the 2 flavor bars they currently had and provide them with feedback.
The company, which was started by Shannon Yorton, is based out of Los Angeles and prides itself on the ingredients of their bars which contain approximately 10 ingredients compared to 30 ingredients found in others. The 2oz bars initially came in 2 flavors: Vanilla Almond Crunch and Peanut Butter Supreme. Then they released 4 more flavors in their all natural line including: Chocolate Brownie, Apple Pie, and Berry Bliss, and Peanut Butter & Jelly. They contain approximately 20g protein, 15g fiber, 2g sugar, 8g fat, and 4 net carbs. And best of all NO SUGAR ALCOHOL! These bars are ridiculously good AND good for you. At the conclusion of 2011, the company released additional flavors such as Chocolate Peanut Butter, Lemon Creme Pie, Coconut Cashew, Cinnamon Roll, Strawberry Cheesecake. They can be ordered directly from their site, on Bodybuilding.com, and are currently making their way in to several chain supplement stores. I may have to order a few cases soon very soon.
