When I was a 7-year old chunky little girl in ballet class I always wondered why my thighs rubbed together. When I was an 8-year old in gymnastics class I always wondered why my thighs were so thick. When I was a 10-year old at track camp I figured my thighs would probably slim down with time. By the time I was 11-years old and watching the ’88 Olympics in Seoul, Korea, I finally figured it out. I had "track and field legs." Watching Jackie-Joyner Kersee dominate the long jump and Flo Jo wreck shop in the sprints would soon become more influential than I ever imagined.
At the ’92 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain I finally saw my inspiration in the likeness of Gail Devers. She was a demon in the hurdles, a beautiful black athletic woman, she was articulate, and she had
thick thighs that rubbed together! I remember watching her Nike commercials on TV thinking, "I want thighs like hers." 19-years later in 2011, I can now say that I have come pretty darn close. She was and still is one of my greatest inspirations. Thank you Gail!
Before "thick" was hip, before muscles were cool, before sculpted quads, delts, and abs were sexy, there were athletic bodies; thick bodies; track bodies. No other sport produces physiques like these. As a 34-year old woman I am so thankful for my parent’s wonderful genetics, my hard work, dedication, and these BEAUTIFULLY THICK THIGHS! Embrace who you are and love everything about yourself! So who inspires you?
