1) Why did the oil rig in the Gulf Coast have to sink and pollute the water on Earth Day?? 2) Did you all see that 50lb bunny rabbit? 3) What kid wouldn’t to wake up to that on Easter Sunday? 4)Why are they wasting time with a new Freddy Kruger? 5)Don’t they know that Robert England is the O.G. Freddy Kruger and that no scene will EVER top the one where he walked down that ally with his arms stretched out about 20 feet wide? (Still gives me the creeps) 6) The million dollar Cottonelle question: Over or under? 7) Do men exfoliate? 8)Did we really have to question … [Read more...]
We’ll Miss You Ms. Mary
Although people can be quite spontaneous and random, we all have pretty set routines that are a part of our daily lives. During the almost 5 years I have resided in California, one of my morning routines included stopping by the AM/PM gas station on the way to work to get coffee. I would chat with the people who worked there and quickly developed friendships with most of them. Everyone was so friendly and I often found myself just stopping by to say hello, even when I didn’t want any coffee. Ms. Mary, one of my favorite buddies who works there, recently decided to relocate out of … [Read more...]
Kind People Still Exist
If you have 5 seconds to listen to any type of media throughout the day you are generally bombarded with nothing but negative information, slander, images, gossip, death, loss, devastation, and anything else that can take the smile off your face. In the midst of all the negative hype, I experienced two acts of random kindness that showed me despite all things, there are still so many good people in this world. On Friday I was at the gas station putting air in my tire. I had a dress on, it was very windy, and although it was not a cute sight to see, I thought I was doing a good job. A … [Read more...]
Hiking at Red Rock
Yesterday was a nice change of pace from being in the gym. I got to go hiking at Red Rock Canyon while spending time with my family in Las Vegas. In my mind, I was thinking we were going on an "outdoor walk", hence my dress. Next time I will invest in some hiking boots and pants. The weather was perfect; sunny and about 75 degrees. We trekked up the mountain for 45 minutes, enjoyed the scenery at the top and headed back down. We opted to skip the second summit because it was very windy. Overall, the entire hike was about 90 minutes, which was a perfect alternative to the gym. My … [Read more...]
Arnold Weekend Whirlwind
Wheew! Made it back from Columbus around 2pm this afternoon. This will definitely go down as one of my most memorable Arnold weekends ever. I got my goodie bag and gear from Bodybuilding.com so now I am an official member of the team. Hoo-rah! Friday night I had dinner with my college friend from Kentucky State (Roman Lori) and his family (Stacey Pyles and the kiddos). We had 15 years of catching up to do. Saturday morning I got to participate in the bodybuilding.com hoopla and play line police to prevent people from cutting in the line others waited in for 4 hours. I even had to use my ASL … [Read more...]

Sick, Sick, and More Sick
The past 2 months have been a whirlwind in my life. I am trying my best to work on time management, but it seems there are never enough hours in the day. I suppose I succumbed to all the rushed pace by getting sick! Very sick for a little over a week, but I still had work to do! Usually I can work through my sickness after a day or two, but not this time. I have been down and out for over a week. Which has been very difficult with the Arnold coming up next weekend. I had to stay out of the gym for 6 days, which has been torture. I didn't want to give whatever I had to anyone else, and it … [Read more...]
The Pope Tweets During Lent
I just read that the Pope will be Tweeting an encouraging note each day during the season of Lent. It is amazing to see how technology is such a double edged sword that can be use for bad or good. I'm sure he will be able to reach a segment of the population that would have been more difficult to reach without Twitter. Go Pope! I see you getting hip! Whatever it takes to show people the meaning and significance of Lent. Happy Ash Wednesday! For those who observe the season of Lent, I hope the next 40 days is a period of personal growth, reflection, and recommitment in your life. Be blessed! … [Read more...]
Bodybuilding.com Spokesmodel Finals Day 1
On my first working day of the Spokesmodel finals in Los Angeles, my group got to do a photoshoot at Ironman Studios. It was a long day from 7am-7pm, but well worth the work. We worked with Mike Neveux and his cool assistant Jude in their funky studio. The images created required a lot of turning twisting, jumping, sweating, lifting, stretching, and pain but it is well worth it. We did individual, couples, and group shots. Here is a snapshot from the screen of one of the final group shots we took. … [Read more...]
A New Respect for Parenting
After spending the holidays my 5 year old nephew and being with him almost nonstop for 4 days each week for a month, I now have an even greater respect for parents....especially single parents. It was work! Although I consider myself to be in good shape, that 5 year old wore me out each day. It was bedtime and all he wanted to do was talk and read his kiddie Bible, and I couldn't tell his cute little face no. When it was 5am and time to go the gym the next morning, I didn't even want to leave him. It was in that moment that I realized how easy it could be to forgo my healthy lifestyle and stay … [Read more...]
